PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

PRP is derived from your own body by taking a sample of venous blood and placing it into a special tube and spinning the blood in a centrifuge. This separates whole blood into red blood cells, platelets, and plasma. The middle layer consists of the PRP. It contains highly concentrated platelets. These cells also contain specialized chemicals called growth factors. The growth factors in PRP stimulate a healing response, reduce inflammation, and build collagen.

PRP has been used since 1987 for dental, orthopedic, and plastic surgery procedures. More recently, PRP is being used for many aesthetic purposes. Micro needling with PRP stimulates stem cells naturally “waking them up” and producing more collagen, making the skin more youthful.

Micro Needling with PRP for even better results

Micro needling can be done with PRP or with serums such as vitamin C or hyaluronic acid. Many studies have been done comparing the use of serums vs. PRP for treatment of acne scars and other skin issues. One study in the Journal of Aesthetic Surgery compared micro needling with PRP versus micro needling with Vitamin C for severe acne scaring. After four treatments, the study revealed that the micro needling with PRP significantly reduced the grade of acne scaring whereas Vitamin C showed minimal results.

PRP combined with micro needling is used in the treatment of:

  • Aged sagging skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Smokers lines around the lips
  • Skin tightening and rejuvenation
  • Large pores
  • Stretch marks
  • Scars (acne, surgical, and burns)
  • Alopecia
  • And much much more…
